The Healthy Ageing Academy
Welcome on this European webplatform, where you can find information and advices for the elderly and their family, but also for Health Professionals or anyone who want to acquire knowledge in the field of ageing.
In June 2013, the European vaccine industry Sanofi Pasteur MSD became partner of the European Innovation partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA) within the action group "Adherence to Medical Plans" with a high-level and ambitious European Partnership proposal to tackle the issue of immunosenescence, responsible notably of an increased risk of infectious diseases in seniors.
The objectives of this initiative was to create a state-of-the-art expert-based new (web) portal to inform, educate and engage lay public and healthcare professionals on prevention means (which include: vaccination, nutritional intervention and physical activity) and will provide tools for personal recommendation to empower the users making good preventive choices. Among all projects proposed within the EIP on AHA, it was the only one addressing the issue of infectious diseases in seniors. The project aimed also at integrating and promoting the use of a unique tool developed by a French NGO called "mesvaccins.net" identified as an innovative and good practice tool with high transferability and adaptability potential.
In 2015, the French EIP-AHA regional functional structure "Gerontopole Autonomie Longévité des Pays de la Loire" supported by the Regional Council Pays de la Loire officially took the lead of the project, named ALOHA (Acting for LOngevity and Healthy Ageing) with a French pilot phase launched in France in December 2015 and the ambition to scale it up across Europe.
